Villa St. Benedict’s 8th Annual Alzheimer’s Walk.
The world may be different, but that didn’t stop VSB
The world may look different, but one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to ending Alzheimer’s. We knew this year our friends and family could not join us for our 8th Annual Villa St. Benedict Alzheimer’s Walk. We were determined to still support this cause. The safety of our residents and staff was top priority for VSB. Thus, we separated the walk into 2 days; Sept 17th for Assisted and Memory Care residents and staff. And Sept. 18th for Independent residents and staff.
Our beautiful grounds and walk paths were lined with the familiar Alzheimer’s purple flower pinwheels. Unique this year were residents, staff and family member’s creative yard signs to also show support and encourage our participants. We also live-streamed this event on our Facebook Page so that family members of our residents could interact with their loved-ones while they walked.
Our participants were able to socially distance outside after the walk and enjoy “live music” provided by Benet Academy student volunteers along with light refreshments.
Additional fundraising with a Fresh Fish Fry To-Go lunch was available to residents, staff, family and friends. We opened it up to the community and the Mayor of Lisle, Christopher Pecak drove up to pick up his meals and show his support.
We surpassed our goal of $3,000 and were over-joyed to reach over $6,000! We are so grateful to all the donors and volunteers who helped make this possible.
It takes a Villa(age)”....and VSB Team is that and more!
