With over 50 apartments for assisted living and 14 apartments in a specialized setting for providing memory support, Villa St. Benedict offers needed services in a dignified, gracious, and personal way.  Benedale Center features large windows, high ceilings, and special community spaces that create an atmosphere reflecting decades of lively learning and tranquil reflection. Benedale Center is adjacent to the new Villa Center and the beautifully restored Sister’s Chapel. Benedale Center provides a supportive lifestyle, and if and when needed, a health services for Villa St. Benedict residents. Benedale Center is staffed with professionals and licensed health care providers around the clock to provide assisted living services, preventive care, and emergency response. The Medical Director and nursing staff provide assistance and support by becoming familiar with each resident’s medical background and distinct needs. Benedale Center can offer limited accommodations for visiting residents to help home caregivers secure a brief respite from the stress of caring for an elderly person. A minimum stay of two weeks is desired. Privacy and Personal Treasures The design of Benedale Center emphasizes personal space with comfort in mind. Residents may choose from several sizes of studios, one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments, all with amenities including convenient kitchenettes, ample closet space, private bathrooms and wall to wall carpeting. Each accommodation includes comprehensive safety features such as sprinklers, an emergency response system, and bathrooms outfitted with grab bars. Residents can decorate their new home as they choose, bringing with them their cherished treasures and favorite furnishings. Leisure and Social Activities Residents will set their own schedule for leisure time, choosing from a wide variety of recreational, physical, creative, social, intellectual, cultural and spiritual programs. Our Programs department is on hand to organize, facilitate, and encourage participation. Benedale Center is small enough to provide focused attention to individual needs yet large enough to offer a wide variety of events and activities. Unique to Benedale Center is the opportunity to attend daily mass in the Sisters’ Chapel and to stimulate physical strength in the Performance Enhancement Center for fitness. Benedale Center is further enhanced by the ministry of the Benedictine Sisters, with their daily presence and involvement in group programs and individual encounters. Family and friends are a welcome addition to our community. We encourage residents to entertain guests or to arrange a special dinner or celebration in the dining room. For those who would like to become more involved, numerous volunteer opportunities exist. A History of Mission and Service Benedale Center was created as an outgrowth of the ministry of the Benedictine Sisters and the fulfillment of a plan to offer supportive senior living based on the values of hospitality, stewardship, respect, and justice. This mission is brought to life with the choice of services available to each resident, based on an individual assessment. Providing care to residents since 1987, Benedale Center has years of experience and understanding to share with residents. Benedale Center offers three levels of service to accommodate each resident’s needs. Benefits at all levels include three delicious and balanced meals each day, prepared under the guidance of our chef. Utilities, housekeeping, linen service, activities, mealtime checks, local transportation, security, parking, building maintenance and expert groundskeeping complete the basic services. Assistance with bathing, dressing, escorting, medications, personal laundry, and incontinence management comprise the individualized services offered with the resident’s support in mind. Some medical services are conveniently offered in our clinic, which features physician’s offices and private counseling areas. Memory Care Memory Care is specially designed and configured to accommodate people living with dementia disease and related cognitive impairments, developed in partnership with Rush University Hospital. Expertly trained staff provide individual care plans for each resident and ensure that they are implemented in a professional, thoughtful and caring manner. Residents are provided with a variety of activities that serve to enhance their self-esteem and minimize the isolation that often accompanies memory loss.
