Villa St. Benedict is co-sponsored by two faith-based organizations, the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart and Benedictine Health System. Their individual missions form the foundation of our day-to-day operations.
Founded in 1895, the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart have a long tradition of commitment to serving the local community through education, parish work helping the homeless and caring for seniors. The Sisters envision Villa St. Benedict as an extension of their mission of Hospitality. Caring for seniors is the corporate commitment of the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart, who founded and also minister in the Benedale Center for Assisted Living, which is part of Villa St. Benedict.
Benedictine Health System (BHS) is a healthcare organization sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery, Duluth, Minnesota. Through their co-sponsorship of Villa St. Benedict, BHS strives to provide a high-quality living environment built on the core values of hospitality, stewardship, respect and justice where seniors can maintain meaning and fulfillment in their lives. BHS owns and/or manages 40 long-term care facilities throughout America.
Meet The Leadership at Villa St. Benedict
Kathy DiCristina R.N.,
CEO & Administrator
Kathy brings 14 years of healthcare management experience to her position. She joined Villa St. Benedict in 2001 as Director of Nursing/Assistant Administrator. In 2006, she assumed the full time role of Assistant Administrator, helping to direct and manage operations, programs and services. Prior to joining VSB, she served as Director of Nursing for a home health care agency, directing all field-based clinical nursing functions. Kathy earned a nursing degree from Morton College in Cicero. She holds basic life support certification for healthcare providers and is a registered nurse in the state of Illinois. Active in her profession, she serves as a member of the CCRC Cabinet of the Life Services Network, an Illinois eldercare association.
Russ Britton,
Director of Facilities
Russ Britton is employed with Crothall Support Services, which oversees Villa St. Benedict’s facility management and plant operations. Prior to coming to Villa St. Benedict, Russ worked in the health care community for over thirty five years serving in various positions throughout his career from Operating Engineer to the Director of Plant Operations at a 500 bed hospital on the north side of Chicago. He also managed the Engineering Department for the one of the foremost institutes in the world for rehabilitation, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Russ is a licensed stationary engineer in the city of Chicago.
Sister Mary Bratrsovsky O.S.B.,
Director of Mission Integration
Sister Mary infuses the Benedictine Core Values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice throughout the Villa St. Benedict campus. She is responsible for the spiritual aspects of the staff and residents. Sr. Mary is the coordinator for Villa St. Benedict Community Benefit program. Before she joined the staff at Villa St. Benedict, Sr. Mary was a member of the faculty at Benet Academy for 37 years. There she was actively involved as Department Chair in Religious Education.
Kelli M. Cox,
Director of Resident Services
Kelli began her career as a social worker in a long term care setting. She has also managed HUD housing for seniors. Kelli joined Villa St. Benedict in October of 2007 as the Volunteer Coordinator. She was promoted to Director of Campus Program Services in April 2008. In her expanded role she is responsible for the supervision of Campus Programs, Concierge services, the Volunteer Program, and the Gift Shop. Kelli has a Masters Degree in Science-Health Care Administration from the University of St. Francis and is a licensed nursing home administrator.
Lori D’Auben R.N.,
Director of Nursing
Lori D’Auben has been in the Nursing field for over 25 years. Before coming to Villa St. Benedict, she worked in various medical venues, including hospitals, clinics, home health, and most recently at a family practice. Lori received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois. In her role as the Director of Nursing she is responsible for the direction and supervision of the Nursing Care and Social Services for all residents on campus.
Jo Jerak,
Director of Human Resources
After a 25-year management career in the financial services industry, Jo started at Villa St. Benedict in May 2001. She graduated from DePaul University, with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Jo has the certification of SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources).
Theresa A. Jordan,
Director of Sales and Marketing
Theresa is employed by Hamlyn Senior Marketing, which oversees Villa St. Benedict's sales and marketing program and initiatives. Theresa's exceptional 20-plus year record in building, developing andmanaging senior living sales strategies and marketing teams helps Hamlyn clients increase sales and grow occupancy from inception through stabilization.
Ms. Jordan's extensive experience includes positions as sales director, regional and national directors and senior vice president at national and international senior living management and consulting firms. Theresa holds the designation of C.M.P. (Certified Marketing Professional) and has earned a degree in Organizational Communication and Marketing from Elmhurst College and has held Real Estate Sales Agent licenses Wisconsin and Illinois.
Mia Siomos, M.S., M.P.H., R.D., L.D.N.,
Director of Culinary Services
Mia is employed by Morrison Senior Living which provides Villa St. Benedict's culinary services. She has been employed with Morrison for 5 years and recently joined the team at Villa St. Benedict. She has held a variety of roles with Morrison including Assistant Director of Dining Services, Director of Dining Services and Regional Dietitian. Mia received her Bachelor's of Science Degree from Benedictine University in Nutrition and Dietetics, she also received a Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Nutrition and Wellness in conjunction with her dietetic internship at Benedictine University. In addition to her education Mia has had experience in restaurants since childhood, working closely with her family's restaurant business.
Karen S. Sherman,
C.P.A.,
Director of Finance
Karen recently joined Villa St. Benedict with more than 14 years of financial management experience with fiscal responsibility for operations of $80 to $250 million. She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. Karen directs and oversees all of the financial activities for Villa St. Benedict.
